MF 135 PTO clutch troubles

Pat Calvert I have just bought a MF135 and the PTO clutch wont work. I presume that it should have like a dual clutch type thing on the pedal. When the PTO is engaged and I press the clutch in, all that happens is the tractor stops but the PTO carries on going. Any suggestions on what to do? Pat
Geoff Gane Pat this i common fault on Fergie clutches especially if the pto hasn't been used for some time,..possibly the clutch plate is stuck to the dummy flywheel in the pto section of the clutch..try disconnecting the safety start switch...connect something heavy to the pto shaft and engage pto,..start the tractor and the pto will drive..now try dipping the clutch to the board and repeat as often as it may take to disengage the pto clutch....if this don't work it's more than likely that the pto adjustment inside the clutch (accessible from underneath the clutch housing) needs to be checked and reset as this setting goes out of adjustment as the main transmission clutch wears....hope this is of help to you....Geoff
Pat Calvert Thanks Geoff will try this and see if it works. Pat
Pat Calvert Hi. Eventually got it going by pressing the clutch right down to the bottom often, with a centipede hay turner on the back. I have to literally stand on the clutch to disengage the PTO though. Is there any way to adjust it easily? Thanks, pat
Joe I have just the opposite problem. When the 165 is running, shifter just grinds when truing to engage the PTO. Must turn engine off to engage. Please advise. Thank.

Joe
