|D Knudson||I'm trying to figure out the correct oil filter for my MF 1260 tractor (which is about 3 years old).
Two different dealers have given me two different part numbers. Neither of those numbers match the number of the filter that is currently installed on the tractor. To make matters worse, one dealer quoted me $18, which I consider pretty ridiculous for a spin-on filter about the size used on a compact car. (Filters similar in size are sold for around $5 every day in auto part stores.)
Anyway, it would be great if someone out there knows the correct MF number. I assume that I will be able to cross the MF number to an equivalent Fleetguard filter if the MF price actually turns out to be $18.
|L Anderson||My MF 1250 filter number is: Massey 3710280M1....
I have used Purelator: L14476 and
Fram: PH2951, STP: 502840.. I change oil more
often when using non Massey filters. Maybe this
info. on 1250 will help.
|Dave Fosson||Went through the same nightmare. Depending on model number of engine, it will either take 3757038M2 or 3704178M1. They advised me that M1 was "prior to E50101". I bought both filters since the closest M-F dealer was 30 miles from the farm. The 3704178M1 matched size, gasket and appearance of Original so I've always gone with it. The M2 was returned for the next victim.
