1105 MF Steering Problem

Paul I purchased a 1105 which had not been driven for 10 years. The steering locks up or else just turns very hard when the tractor is cold. It seems better once the tractor is warmed up for 2 hours. I changed oil, filter, priority valve twice, and steering control valve twice. I cleaned the bottom screen above drain plug. The implement hydraulics test okay. The problem is intermittent and sometimes the tractor steers fine. The tractor is in the shop the third time and I am running out of money. If you have any ideas I would sure appreciate them.
hayray my massey 1105 does the same thing, I was told that is normal for that model, I have had it for 3 years and have had it as only a minor problem. One thing to check however is that some times the woodruff keys on the king pin shaft wear out and that really creats a lot of slop. Once I replaced those then the problem was a lot less.
Paul Chapman Thank you for your advice. I'll check that out. Paul
Luke I have missed with this problem also,I touched the rack up front, priority valve, and steering motor ( connected to steering colom) and 99% of the problem was the steering motor, which to my knowledge is not serviceable. These tractors have a odd steering system. best way to check your system is to have a flow meter test done. More than likely the dealer will have this special tool. If I can help you , e-mail me
Tom Humble I had a problem with my 1105 it would work perfect for a while and lockup shake the wheel back and forth and it would eventually release.
Took it to the dealership to put a clutch in and told them what it was doing. Turned out to be a key in the steering would slip out and lock against the dash put a tack weld on it and solved problem.
