|steve munro||I started my Massey 135 diesel on Saturday, no problem. Went out today and turned the key, no reaction no turnover of starter, nothing. Tried a boost still no action sound or anything.
Is there something wrong with the ignition switch and how would I test that?
Any help appreciated.
|Big Dean||Hi Steve I was a Massey Ferguson mechanic and service manager for 27 years. The first thing that comes to mind is the neutral safety switch try working the short high low lever back and forth while you hold the starter switch on. This will sometimes make the neutral safety switch make contact. If not that check your battery cable ends to be sure they are not corroded or loose. If you have not found the problem by then remove the wires from the neutral safety switch BE SURE YOU HAVE THE TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL. BEFORE YOU TRY THIS. Connect the two wires from the neutral safety switch together & see if that will make it start. If not look for a loose or broken wire. If this fails to find your problem email me at firstname.lastname@example.org I have a drawing I can email you that show the test procedure for checking the starting system with a test light or volt meter.
