||Is it possible and practical to put an alternator on my MF65? If so, how? What kind?
||Thinking about doing the same to my dieselmatic. My problem is that the area where the generator is mounted is between the engine and part of the front frame on the right side. Most US made alternators are larger in diameter than the generator. Carefull measuring is needed to see if an alternator(US)will fit. The alternator of choice is a single wire marine alternator. The voltage regulator for the generator alone is about half the cost of a mail-order alternator. Typical generator output is around 25 amps. Alternator is 35 amps for an old one and up to 65-85 amps for a newer one. You will need to make modifications to the tractor wiring to complete the conversion. I expect in my case, I'll probably end up using a smaller foreign made alternator.
||I used a GM alternator for about $35. I used a alt bracket from a car and made a spacer for the back piviot. Email me and i will make a picture and send it to you. firstname.lastname@example.org
