Massey Harris 1956 Model 50 3 pt hitch stopped working
|Hillary||Hi! I have a 1956 MHF model 50 - When I bought it it would lift a round bale with ease and I was able to do whatever I needed to move them around with the 3 point hitch/spear. All of a sudden the 3 point will not even attempt to lift a bale - What the heck is going on? Thanks I am very green and specifics would be appreciated!
|Bee Man||If you live in a climate where it freezes hard, the Masseys are bad for getting water in the transmission and if enough water gets into the hydraulic pump it can break it and make your 3 point hitch useless. Happened to my dad's. There should be a service port to check the pressure. My advice to any owners of these tractors is do 2 things if possible, 1)keep it parked indoors, and 2)put about a quart of gas line antifreeze in the transmission every fall before freeze up in the fall.
