alternator belt

john mf50h digger can anyone tell me why the alternator belt keeps stretching and having to be tensioned every day? if alternator pully were too small diameter would that be the problem? i changed from 236 to 248 engine which has slightly bigger diameter crankshaft pulley. had 3 different belts now all the same problem.inferior makes of belt?
jstpa John, When you put the belt on next time, check to make sure the sides of the pulleys aren't worn flat. That will cause the belt to bottom out in the pulley and you can't keep them tight. When I set the belt tension on alternators I push on the alternator fan with my thumb and make sure it doesn't slip, if it does I tighten it some more. jstpa
