1260 PTO won't engage

Jim We have a 1260, 4wd, and can't get the PTO to engage. It has the yellow lever beside the driver's seat, and the toggle switch on the dash. I engage the yellow lever, then engage the toggle switch. When I do that, there are no unusual sounds, the PTO does not move, but the PTO indicator light does come on on the dash. Any ideas?? I need to get some mowing done!
Another Jim I have a 1250, 4wd, with exactly the same PTO engagement problem! I engage the PTO lever, then engage the toggle switch, the PTO indicator light comes on on the dash, there are no unusual sounds, but the PTO does not turn. When the PTO lever is disengaged the PTO shaft turns easily by hand. When this first happened, every time I engaged the toggle switch the engine would stop running, apparently because the inoperative seat switch was shorting. I've corrected that problem and checked
Another Jim All of the fuses. Still no PTO! I haven't been able to find the location of the PTO solenoid nor the wire that goes to it yet, but am still searching. Many other wires on this tractor use "fusable links" these are wires designed burn in two, rather than using a fuse.
