MF 165 won't stay running unless clutch is engaged
|vox morgan||My neighbor owns a MF165 Diesel w/ the Multi Power Option. The other day he was out snow blowing for about 30 minutes. As he put it into reverse he heard a noise and the tractor stalled. He then pushed in the clutch and it started back up, but every time he disengages the clutch the engine stalls. I talked to him briefly and he said that the multi power lever is in high and the PTO is off. It starts right up but as soon as he releases the clutch it dies. He also mentioned that while it was running he is able to shift gears without a problem. He said that he pulled the cover off the top of the transmission and all the gears move freely. He said he was unable to inspect the part of the transmission that engages the PTO, so Iím wondering if he blew a gear in the PTO which is locking up causing the motor to stall when he disengages the clutch. Any thoughts and if so does he have to split the tractor to fix it?
|vox morgan||we found the problem thanks anyway
