MF35/4cyl diesel

Nick Hi...I"m setting the injector pump timing following an engine rebuild. Can someone tell me if there is a best initial position on the injector pump drive cog. Where I have it at the momement with a rod in the flywheel hole and with the pump mounting bolts central on the adjustment slots, the letter "G" line on the injector pump rotor is 2-3mm below the scribed line on the ciclip. If I shift the drive cog 1 notch clockwise the letter "G" line is about 3mm above the scribed line on the circlip.
Any advise would be helpful

Thanks Nick
