MF 158

Tim Gibbs Does anyone know the fundamental differences between the MF 158 and the MF 165. They both have the Perkins 4203 engine, and are similar sizes. The 158 seems to be more common in continental Europe than elsewhere.
GEEBEE The "8" line 148/158/168 etc. "super spec" tractors. To allow for better installation of a cab to conform to European standards a spacer was installed between the gearbox and rear axle, they were also fitted with IPTO, suspension seat, higher capacity hyd. pump. The MF150 (155) became the MF158 (72'-78'), the MF165 became the MF168 (71'-79') HTH.
Tim Gibbs Thanks, that all seems right, except my friends "158" is 4 cylinder, not 3 as in the 150, 154 etc. That's assuming it really is a 158.
GEEBEE You are quite right Tim, the 158 has the AD4.203, same as the early 165's (before 1968)
