cold weather & hydraulics

stuart I have a farmhand loader on the tractor and this winter the hydraulics have been very sluggish and unresponsive. When the tracton is first started up, the loader controls won't move, I've noticed that the 3 point hitch and the remotes are sluggish as well.

We put a quart of methyl hydrate in the resevoir and it seemed to help for a while, but the problem is a persistent one.

It really isn't all that cold, 5 or 10 farenheit.
Any suggestions

Steve IA The controls may be different, but I had problem earlier this winter with the bucket control lever on my MF-32 loader being frozen until hydraulic oil warmed up. One warm day I removed the cap on the bottom of the valve assembly and removed about 3/4" of water which would freeze and keep the valve from moving. Removed the water and all is well now. Hope this helps a little.

stuart OK thanks for the suggestion, I'll see if there is a similar configuration.
mark I found i had the same the same problem with a mf50h backhoe. i fixed by replacing the hydraulic filters and changing oil to a lighter weight hydraulic oil for colder temps
