lx 172 transmission linkage adjustment

Ron Leversee I would like to learn how to adjust the transmission linkage on a LX-172 lawn tractor. When the transmission is in neutral it is actually in 1st gear. When it is in reverse it is in neutral...and so on. I do not currently have reverse because I am at the limit of the linkage. How do I adjust it back to normal?
ross To do this you need to take the mower deck off and disconnect the transmission linkage on the transaxle. I think there is an adjustment you can make on the linkage where you take it off of the transmission. Adjust it until your shifter is in neutral when the transmission is in neutral. Hope this helps.

fred Ron, Do not remove anything, look under fenderdeck and there is a plastic bushing on each end of shift lever. there are bolts holding theese on and are slotted to adjust shift lever properly.
