|Steve W.||My JD 330 LT with a diesel engine stops running after 10 to 15 minutes. This tractor is in in good shape with low hours. My father bought it new. My lawn mower mechanic has serviced it regularly, but he is not very knowledgeable about diesel engines.
A few days ago it restarted after it cooled off for about 1 hour. Tonight it ran grteat for 10 minutes and stopped. I tried to start it about an hour later without sucess. Black smoke came out of the exhaust on the first two attempts to restart, but no smoke was visible on the 3rd and 4th attempts.
Thanks in advance for your ideas or suggestions.
I'm not too familiar with diesel engines either. But what you describe sounds like either the vent in the fuel cap is plugged, or the ignition coil is bad.
Diesel = bad diesel (water or junk) or plugged fuel filter, drain diesel and replace the filter, get yourself a mr funnel to trap water before adding it to your tractor...
Dave - No ignition coil on a diesel
|Dave||Brian - Thanks for the correction. I have learned something today. - Dave
