|Jay||I have a 10 yr old LX176 and need a new short block. Price from my JD dealer is too high to justify. It is a Kawasaki K 14HP engine. Do I have to get it from JD or can I get a replacement from Kawasaki for a reasonable price?
|Ron||Never replace a short block. You can buy a whole new engine for less. Never buy any engine from a JD dealer, far too expensive. Try Northen Tool, Surplus Center, Jack's Small Engines, etc. All have websites. Or any local small engine shop.
