|brian|| I've got a 1979 john deere 317. When you run it it shakes badly the longer you run it the worse it gets. it also does not back up very good.Reverse seems to "slip" please help?? Also how do i tell if i got a series 1 or 2 engine? Thanks, Brian
|Dave||A KT17 Series II engine has a specification or spec number of 24300 or higher.
Is the mower shaking when the mower deck is engaged or W/O it engaged? Is reverse the only range its slipping Does it slip more when applying the brakes? If it's shaking without the deck engaged I would check the drive shaft bearings front and rear. Also check to see if the roll pin on the rear yoke of the drive shaft that slids over the transmission shaft is still ok. (not sheared). Let use know whats happening on this. Have more to check. thanks Mike.
