Lx188 clutch assembly

vicki We purcahsed a two year old Lx188 with 200hours we have put 400 hours on this mower. One year ago we had the drive belt and idler pulley replaced. Again this year we had it in this time they say the clutch assembly was rusted and needed four hours to replace this one year old belt. We never mow in the rain and this tractor is stored in a heated building. Any comments! Our last JD ran for 30 years minimal problems!
Greg well first, the lx188 was last made in 1998 so that makes your mackine at least 6 yaers old.
Well as far as clutches go its possible to be rusty, but you may be able to free up the plates that contact each other. I've never seen one on the lx188 that was rusty .May only be surface rust and the dealer or person simply wants to replace it. Make sure you get your old parts back to insure that its not sold as a used part to another customer.
