hydrostatic oil how much do i put in???

maria have a 318 onan jd tractor pls get back to me. thxs M
Dave M - When the 318 left the factory in Horicon, it most likely had Type F transmission fluid. This is red in color. However, Deere now recommends using their Low Viscosity Hy-Gard Fluid. The key issue though, is to not mix them. If your's is Type F, red in color, that's what you should top it off with. If you are draining the fluid and changing the filter, go with Hy-Gard.

There is a sight tube at the rear of the tractor, on the right side of the differential. The fluid level should be at about the middle of the sight tube. It takes somewhere between 5 and 5.5 quarts to fill the system. - Dave
