I just noticed my 900 hour JD 425's coolant is disappearing, also oil deposits on the dip stick cap and inside the air filter area are cloudy brown.
I assume it is internally leaking. I plan to do testing as outlined in the JD Technical Manual.
Does anyone have experience with this condition?
Any suggestions regarding repairing or replacing the engine?
Thanks in advance.
|Dave||Glen - My guess is the head gasket has blown. Has the engine been overheated at all? If so, it's possible the head is warped. Most likely though, it's a gasket. - Dave
|GREG S.||I WOULD REPLACE BOTH HEAD GASKETS AT THE SAME TIME SINCE YOU HAVE TO PULL OFF THE INTAKE. LOOK CLOSELY AT THE HEAD FOR ANY PITTING.IT IS POSSIBLE THAT YOU MAY HAVE A WARPED HEAD.
