John Deere 410 Injector Pump
|Richard Roland, Sr.||80's Backhoe sat for a year, went to start it, and it would not start. I replaced the lift pump, fuel filter (bowl had a lot of junk in it). Turned it over, and no start. Bled it at the IP inlet, and now have lots of fuel coming to it compared to a trickle before. Was going to bleed the injectors, but no fuel at all coming from them when constant cranking engine.
The IP is a Stanadyne, model JDB431MD2800. I have read other places to replace the "check valve" which is located in the return to fuel tank line. How can that possibly be the problem if it is in the return line? I am just an OLD dumb cowboy here, and this has me stumped.
Can anyone help me out here? Pleassssse !!
|ponymare||Not an injection pump specialist, but is the engine killed by turning off the switch, or manual kill? If its key kill, the solenoid in the pump may not be working, or the valve it operates is stuck.
|Richard Roland, Sr.||Thanks for the input, I took the top of the IP off, cleaned the inside of the pump, put a little kroil on the metering valve, checked to see that the solenoid was engaging, and then reinstalled the top of the IP. I installed a new check valve in the return line, and turned the tractor over to see if any fluid was coming to the injector. Unfortunately I was not able to finish the job as some one before me had twisted the return line some time in the future, and a hole was worn at that point, so I had diesel coming out of the line. Will have to wait until next week when my JD Dealer can order me the new return line. Will let y'all know how it goes after I get the new line installed.
