John Deere 260 mower fuel flow issue (17 hp Kawi)

Tom I've got a 260... Love it! well, except I ran it out of fuel this spring, and filled him back up, and no go. I bought/installed a new fuel filter, blew the line till bubbles in the tank, and cleaned the bowl and carb, and no go. If I add gas to the carb, it fires right up, but can't seem to suck what it needs through the line, to stay running. There is little spurts of gas coming from the vacuum fuel pump (if I pull the line off and turn it over), maybe not enough. Any ideas? Anyone know how to remove the tank and clean it out? There must be more than the two 13mm's under the seat. Please let me know. Also, anyone find a good reasonable seat cover that is well.... GOOD!
ponymare Are you sure it ran out of gas, check the little hole in the center of the gas cap, make sure its open.
Tom Hole is clean. Yes I am sure I ran out of fuel.
