John Deere 500 series A Backhoe cylinder leaking

Ted Ray Hello all, I have a JD Series 500 A loader/backhoe. I just bought it and know very little about it. I checked the Hyd. fluid with the dipstick below the seat. It showed nothing, I put over 3 gallons in it. Everything worked great. Then the top cylinder to raise and lower the boom started leaking leaking Bad. I assume the added pressure blew the seal out. Can this seal be replaced without taking the cylinder off the tractor? And how hard is it to replace. Thanks for the help.
ponymare The cyl will need to be removed to repair it, because the ram needs to be pulled out of it to replace several seals. It will be heavy, so probably need somebody to help.
Ted Ray Is there a diagram that would tell me exactly which cylinder to order seals for? Its the top cylinder that pulls the bucket arm in and out. Not the one that controls the bucket itself. Thanks for the help
