2040 fuel injector timing
|BD||I need to have my injector pump rebuilt on my 2040 and need to know, before tearing it down, how to make sure it is timed properly once i get the pump back. will there be marks on both sets of gears to align or only on the pump gear to be set for TDC on the tractor?? any ideas?
|thepumpguysc||On the pump mounting flange there is a timing line that matches-up to some degree marks on the block, write down what * mark it lines up to.
If it makes you warm and fuzzy, there is a "internal" timing clip behind the side cover on the pump, you can rotate the engine until "a letter" lines up with the flat on the clip, doesnt matter what letter, just write down what letter it is, just incase the gear in the front of the engine slips. The pump will only go on 1 way, its either keyed or master splined but the gear CAN slip with the pump removed.
|Don||Have a JD5400, blowing black smoke. Injection pump rebuilt and injectors replaced, repair lasted about 25 hours, then back to black smoke. Could this be a timing issue?
