2130: No brakes and fluid leaking from brake valve

2130: No brakes and fluid leaking from brake valve

The brakes on my 2130 suddenly quit working, and fluid leaks from the indentation between the intermediate plate and the brake valve when I press either left or right brake pedal. I noticed that on one of the outlet assemblies the valve and spring were missing, and I also noticed that a 1/4" ball was sitting in the indentation when I removed the valve assembly. I don't see how the ball could have got there unless it somehow came out of the lower port of the brake valve. I put in a new spring and valve and put it back on with a new gasket. But this did not fix the problem.
I couldn't figure out how to upload images, but have posted images here http://tinyurl.com/27hhom8 and here http://tinyurl.com/2dckhhg . The first image shows the leak location, and the second shows the brake valve removed. The leaking fluid apparently comes from the lower port on the valve, which connects to the indentation on the plate. Any ideas? Or can anyone refer me to a location with an explanation of how it works? I have the official Deere manual with the exploded parts illustration, but it doesn't explain the operation enough for me to figure out what is wrong. I have replacement balls, springs, and seals ordered, but I couldn't see any problems with them when I had it apart (other than the missing ball and spring).
