5105 PTO power loss. Is this an adj?
|matt||Rear Pto on 5105 JD doesn't seem to have the power it used to. With bush hog what used to be simple cuts now bog the pto system down.. Is this most likey the PTO clutch adj. Fluid level is right and filter has been changed recently. Everything else in the Hydrolic system works fine...no cavetating of any kind.
|tractorfixer||PTO does not work off hydraulics. Check free travel of PTO engagement lever. Should be less than 1 in. Adjust turnbuckle on rod until free travel is correct
|Jim R.||Are the blades on the mower sharp, dull, or beat up badly. Are you getting into heavier vegetation? What size mower? That tractor doesn't have a great deal of power or torque to begin with. If you sharpen the blades, make sure you do it right. Only on the top side, pretty steep angle, leave them about 1/4" thick at the leading edge.
|Joseph Pierre||Depends on whats happening. Is the pto clutch slipping or the motor choking down. If the pto clutch is slipping: check how much slack is in the pto lever. You should only be able to push it fwd a half of a inch to a inch. If it has alot of slack then your loosing the clamping force it needs to hold.
If the motor is choking down then most likely your fuel system is sucking air of it has a restriction.
