john deere 316 motor question onan which one do i have

Ryan i was wondering which motor i had in my 316 how do i tell between a p series and a b series onan i know its not a kohler please help??
Dave Ryan - There should be a serial number/model number tag on the motor. If you can't find that,
you can go by the tractor serial number listing below:

The following would have a B series Onan.
1984 MODEL (SERIAL NO. M00316X285001-315000)
1985 MODEL (SERIAL NO. M00316X315001-360000)
1986 MODEL (SERIAL NO. M00316X360001-420000)

The following would have a P series Onan.
1987 MODEL (SERIAL NO. M00316X420001-475000)
1988 MODEL (SERIAL NO. M00316X475001-595000)
1989 MODEL (SERIAL NO. M00316X595001-999000)
1990 MODEL (SERIAL NO. M00316X010001-100000)
1991 MODEL (SERIAL NO. M00316X100001-110000)
1992 MODEL (SERIAL NO. M00316X110001-120000)

Hope that helps you out. - Dave
