modify a 359 snowblower gear case for a 855

dantarr I'm mounting a 359 snowblower off of a 650 onto my 855. I've got everything mounted and running BUT the blower/auger is reversed. Parts diagrams indicate that some of the 359's have an idler gear (I assume the 650 mid-pto must run opposite of the 855). However some 359's have the same part #'s as the 59 blowers with the exception of a larger helical gear input and without the idler. Has anyone tried removing the idler gear and changing the helical input gear to reverse the output direction?
dantarr FYI after studying the TM, parts, and both the 359 and the 59 OP manuals I decided to try removing the 19T idler gear (altogether) and replacing the 15T input gear with a 19T input gear. The idler gear roller bearings (pressed in) were just left in place. Runs like a top, in the reverse direction (output shaft now running opposite to the input shaft.) The whole gearbox has to be re-oriented on the blower to accommodate the the 855 hitch assembly (as alluded to in the 359/59 manuals). The 19T input gear (p/n M86075) costs $150, as opposed to $1380 for new gearbox.
