318 ignition

Preston Can some one tell me where the flywheel should be when i set the gap for the points on my onan B43g engine, i thing it top center but i want to make sure...
Thanks

Dave Preston - There's no set position for the flywheel that I'm aware of. My 318 had electronic ignition, so points were not an issue. A buddy of mine as an 83 318 and I did a tuneup for him a couple years ago. I pulled both plugs, used a wooden dowel to to turn the flywheel until the point gap was at its widest opening, then used a 0.016" feeler gage to set the points and locked 'em down. Tractor ran great - after I put the plugs back in. - Dave
