5200 Tachometer/Fuel gauge
Post a Followup
||My 5200 tachometer stopped working and soon after the fuel gauge. Towards the end the tach needle would jump when you turned on the lights or flashers. I checked all the grounds I could find, replaced a diode connected to both gauges based on a dealer recommendation, and even spent a lot of money for a whole new gauge cluster and it still doesn't work. Any ideas?
||The tach problem could just be the magnetic pickup (sender). The m.p. is usually the problem. The fuel gauge is probably the sender also. A broken wire could cause the same problem but probably wouldn't affect both at the same time. A wiring schematic would help in that case. Check the senders first you will probably find your problem. Use a ohm meter on the fuel sender but the tach sender is easier to check with a known good sender.
