LX 279 model no power after engaging mower

Bob Gruenewald My LX 279 model has very little power after engaging mower. I have to shut the mower deck off for the engineer to recover. Could there be a problem with the mower deck or the drive components for the mower deck?

When I rev the engine it seems to run smooth with the mower disengaged.

I think I ran the mower with too high of oil level most of last year, could that be a power problem?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Mike With the engine off, reach under and turn the blades by hand, see if everything moves right up to the pto clutch. There will be a bit of drag on the clutch, but easy enough to turn by hand. Also may be running on one cylinder. After it runs for a minute or so, check the temperature of each side near the spark plug, if one is alot cooler than the other, then probably need an ignition coil.
