|Jim Tillson||Can anyone tell me how to remove lower gear cluster in trans.??? The bearing twoard the pinion gear failed and caused the long shaft to break. Cannot reamove gear cluster from front. Thanks.
|Jim||I just replaced the pinion shaft in my tractor yesterday. The shaft you are talking about is the first shaft to go into the transmission and the last to come out. You have to remove the top hydralic deck and both rear axels then the differential gears to get the pinion shaft out the back of the housing. Good luck finding a replacement shaft. It is no longer available from JD. Salvage is the only hope and it is slim pickings as I found out.
