JOHN DEERE 3010 PTO

Ron Weir Broken the pto spindle and now cannot remove it. Have remove bolts but the shaft collar won't pull out. I have tried to pull it out with a truck but it is really stuck. Am I missing something??
ross Are you trying to remove the pto stub shaft or the pto shaft that has a bearing on the end of it and is inside of the tractor. There is a snap ring that holds the stub shaft in on the housing.
Ron Weir Just the stub shaft with collar that has bolts and two pins going into tractor. The spindle was broken off while mowing. We removed the bolts but cannot access the pins for removing.
Ben. You have to split the tractor to get those pins out. Invest in an I&T shop manuel. I had the same problem and it was very helpful. No special tools are needed, just a flat spot!
Tom I have just sheared my internal rod that engages the 1000 or the 540 for the third time the guy that is going to fix it this time wants to make it permanant 540 rpm. This would eliminate the intenal crap that is used for 1000 rpm.I will never use 1000 rpm anyway. Do you have any ideas?
