2240 hydraulics

Joe having a problem with the hydr. system on my 2240. i recently replaced the hydr. pump (John Deere rebuild) and have changed the oil twice since as it had some mositure in it. the hydr system will just quit working but resume after shutting down the engine for 10 or so seconds. so far i have cleaned the trans strainer and replace the oil with new. i didnot have a new filter at that time, it will be replaced tomorrow when JD is open. any thoughts thanks
ross How long can you run the hydraulics before they quit? Will all hydraulic functions stop or just the rockshaft and hydraulic outlets?
Joe they have gotten progresivly worse to the point they work very little even when cold. i have just picked up a new hydr. filter today and will try that, if that doesn't work i may have an enternal leak (bummer) it affects all hydrualics and hydr. functions
ross It sounds like you have an internal leak and the hydraulic pump cannot keep up when you use one of the hydraulic functions. Take the plug out of the back of the rear of the transmission and see if any oil is spraying out of the rockshaft housing when the tractor is running.
