|John||I have a JD 318 (1985 B43G Onan 18hp) that has approximately 1460 hours. It uses a little oil, but not bad. Lately, it has been missing - slower than at almost full rpm. It's like a galloping sort of miss. I've just changed spark plugs, but there still is no change (old plugs didn't look that bad). I blow out the engine after every time of mowing to make sure it runs as cool as possible. It's been an excellent mower that I've owned since 1999. I would appreciate any ideas on what to check next. Thanks
|Dave||John - How long since you've changed the points and condensor? That's where I'd start. Points sould be gapped to 0.016".
You may have an issue with the plug wires. I'm guessing they are the originals. Deere likes to charge about $25 each for them, so another source may be a better bet.
If you still have missing issues, post back. - Dave
|t_bois||What about the valves? They also need adjusting.
