Dear Mr. Connolly:

I sincerely apologize for your experience. Fire is not covered by John Deere warranty.

Fire causation is difficult to determine. Our dealers are not trained to determine the cause of a fire. If you have not already done so, please contact your homeowner's insurance company, as the agent you spoke with instructed. This way you will receive an unbiased opinion. They have experts who are trained to determine the cause of the fire.

If you have further questions, please call our center.

Thank you,
Cindi

After calling again.. and filling out another fire
report...and after getting a $865.16 bill for
repair of the tractor.. And being told that John Deere
will offer no compensation at all.. I just wanted to
let you know that John Deere has lost a valued
customer.. The "nothing runs like a deere" slogan
means nothing without you backing up your product..

I can't express my feelings I now have.. I will do my
research while looking for a new tractor.. I will
hope that Cub Cadet or Ariens and Kabota are willing
to take care of customers...

Your one less customer

Dave Jeff - There's a lot of minutia to go through to figure out what really happened. So your tractor caught fire. You contacted Deere. They told you to contact your insurance company. That's pretty much standard. Did you then contact your insurance company? How can you expect Deere to put something under warranty that may have been caused by something out of their control? I'm not trying to defend them, nor to offend you, just posing the question. If your insurance carrier determined the cause of the fire to be suspect of design or manufacture and duly stated as such, I think Deere would be more likely to respond to a warranty claim. However, if the insurance carrier determined the cause of fire was due to failure to clean out the dried grass from around the engine (not saying that was an issue here, just using it as an example), then that would be something that Deere would probably be not likely to warrant. Either way, sorry for the issues you are having. Good luck. - Dave
bontai Joe Jeff,
It's really had to follow your post as there is a lot of stuff that seems out of sequense and extra headings, etc. But there seems to be very little in details on how the fire started, what damage occured, and why you believe that Deere is at fault. I'd need more info than what you provided and in a more understandable format to have any opinion on this.

He must not have insurance,.. My dealership if there is fire damage, the INSURANCE company is notified by CUSTOMER. Arrangements are made to bring said equipment in, then adjuster comes to assess damage.
