|Michael Hartfield||the shaft on my 54" deck separates while operating. How do I adjust the deck to keep the shaft together? This is on a JD 425.
|David||#1 if you don't lower the deck all the way, it whould stop it. (i.e. with the turn handle on 'console' between your feet and below the steering wheel.
#2 if it is falling apart, look at the shaft, the inner shaft has a kittle groove in it on one side, on the outer shaft there is an allen key set screw. align these both and tighten the set screw ehile the two pieces are inserted all the way. don't tighten so much that it hinders the movement just enough to engage the grovve and keep it from folling out. fix mine...
