|Jamie||Hi, hydro 185 I use to blow snow. When I turn key nothing at all. I replaced the relay and small wire harness with JD parts today. Still nothing. When I jumper the solenoid i hear a turning.
Q) should the starter engage when I jumper the solenoid (it does not)
Q) should there be 12 v from the key switch wire at the solenoid to ground when the key is turned (there is not)
Q) Any suggestions (battery has 12.6v) cables cleaned, my driveway has 2.5 feet of snow :-(
|ross||Does the engine turn over when you jump the solenoid? Does the engine start by jumping the solenoid? Yes there should be battery voltage at the solenoid when the key switch is in the run position. I would say that either your key switch is bad or the wire from your key switch to the starter solenoid has a break in it.
|Jamie||The engine does not turn over when I jump the solenoid. The engine does not start when I jump the solenoid. Just a whirrrring sound.
|Jamie||I opened up the relay box, put the key to run, pressed the top of the relay to close the circuit, and the motor turns over and continues to run :-)....... I guess the starter key switch is ng ?????
