Loader 40 Experience

Keivn Dunn Hi All,

I am considering purchasing a Loader 40 for use on my 425. I have heard varrying opinions on how practical one of these are. I realize weight and power are everything when it comes to loaders and that the 40 will probably not dig undisturbed dirt. What I would like to use it for is to scoop dirt from a large pile that has been sitting about a year and dump it into a Gator 6x4. I have been told that the 425 will not have enough power even under the best circumstances (rear ballast, wheel weights etc) I am looking for anyone with practical experience using this loader? I appreciate any and all opinions

Thanks

Kevin

Bob I've had my "40" loader on my 445 for several years now. It'll handle about 300 pounds of weight, lifting it about 6 feet high. I had to install a hydraulic bypass valve on the system so as not to overload the normal hydraulics. I also have rear wheel weights, a homemade 5 gallon bucket size concrete counterweight mounted on the 3 point hitch and tire chains. I can honestly say it's the best little investment I ever made. We use it for everything from snow removal to gravel and dirt hauling. You're right, though. It's not designed for actual digging. I'm not sure of the specs on your 425 but the 445 handles it well.
