3 levers on 8n?
|Mike||There are 3 levers on the main chassis of our 8n. One controls the up and down of the 3 point hitch..it is the right hand larger lever.
There are 2 levers on the left side of the main chassis..one is to engage the PTO.
What is the 3rd smaller lever for?
|Bob G||Pictures really help. Where is the smaller lever at? Should be one under the front right side of seat for position or draft control. If it is forward of the trans on left side it may be a overdrive gearbox or combination over under drive gear box.
|Mike||Sorry - My Mistake!!! There are 2 levers on the Right side and one on the left side.
The top one is for the up and down of the 3 point.
One is for the engagement of the PTO.
What is the 3rd one for?
|Bob G||Where is the second lever on the right? Is it on the side of the transmission on the round inspection plate? Or is it more forward by your right foot? Or is it on top right forward on trans. All 8n's will have the PTO, The lift control lever and the draft/position control under front of seat.
there are other levers that could be on right or left side and that is why I said Pictures really help us in providing the correct answer.
|mike||Bob - I will get those picture tomorrow for you. I'm sorry I don't have those today, I'm at work. Thanks for your help!
What does the draft/position control actually do if that is what it is?
|Bob G||The 9ns and 2ns only had draft control. When the 8ns came out they added position control.
When you are in draft control and are plowing if the pulling gets too hard the hydraulics raises the three point to reduce the pull.
When in position control, you set the position of the lift arms with the lever on the right side. If in draft control, you cannot set the height of the lift arms, they are either all the way up or all the way down.
Here is the picture of the 2 levers on the 8N on the right side under the seat.
|Bob G||That is the draft/position control lever. Horizontal is for draft control and vertical is for position control. Mine stays vertical as I do no plowing!
Pictures are a great help!
