|chorne||I did a major tuneup on an 8n (believe 1948)with front distributor. New plugs, wires, rotor, cap, points, and condensor. I also converted from 6v to 12. I also rebuilt the carburetor with new jets, etc.
The tractor starts right up when its cold but once it stops, it turns over but will not start. Plugs are dry.
The only uninstalled parts are the tube from filter to carb and gas tank.
There is voltage at the coil. Why won't it start? what should I check?
|Bob G||When it does not start, check for spark at the spark plugs! for reference, check the spark when it is cold.
when you converted to 12 volts did you use the orginial 6 volt coil? if you did , did you install the second resistor?
|Jim Loveridge||Can you clarify "The only uninstalled parts are the tube from the filter to the carb and gas tank"?
|Bob G||I was wondering about that also, but took it to mean the tube from the air filter to carb. and maybe he is running with a temporary gas tank.
