Ford 1000 (1600) Leak From Shifter Boot
|Derrick||I have a 1000 tractor (similar to a 1600). Just started leaking quite a bit of hydraulic fluid from middle shifter boot while running. Anyone know what might be causing this?
|sixbales||Howdy Derrick, welcome to the SSB tractor forum.
There are seals on each shift lever under the transmission cover, held in place by a spring and a cotter pun. I suspect one of your seals has a leak.
In looking further at your shift lever seals, I believe the boots on top serve as your seals. The seals under the cover are a feature of the Ford 1700 tractor. Sorry about that.
