1969 Ford 5000 8 speed transmission noise
|Nathan||1969 Ford 5000 8 speed transmission noise
Got a questions on a 8 speed ford 5000 trans. When I am operating the tractor I can hear a rattling/ knocking noise coming from the tractor. This only happens when the tractor is not pulling or holding back, more less when its in a free state of travel. I am thanking It is coming from the transmission but could be rear end its hard to tell but sound like it is some where the to meet. It is worse when I am coasting and push the clutch in on a down hill grade.
|Wabash||Hello Nathan, welcome.
Sounds like you have a bad bearing somewhere in the tranny or rear end. Finding and fixing this problem may be a very expensive proposition. I would have a tractor mechanic pass judgement on what it might be.
