Hydraulics not working

Nic I was moving hay yesterday and i lowered the bale to the gound and shut off the tractor 10 mins. later i started it up and the lift would not go up or down nor did it make any noise. I drain the fluid and cleaned the screen but no improvement also the lift lever will not remain in the up position i am wondering if it could be the valve any help would would be much appreciated
Nic sorry it is a 3110 if that helps
Al The Hoye Tractor site has an online troubleshooting guide for the 3-pt hitch.
Nic thanks Al that sounds like the valve might be the problem
Nic Hey Al if it is the control valve can it be repaired or is it just scrap
Al Could be valve, O-ring, obstruction, or pump, but first I'd troubleshoot the lift-lever connections.

Fix or replace depends on the problem and on whether there's a local hydraulics shop. I take it you don't have a front loader (that could help diagnose the problem).

Nic Thats correct Al no front end loader. I inspected the lever workings and it is depressing the pin in the valve. I loosened the top hydraulic line and worked the lever and no fluid came out by obstruction do you mean in the valve.
nic Al I forgot to mention the J tude was clogged up so I cleaned it out but no improvement
Al You've reported two things about the lift lever, and I'm afraid I don't see the connection between them. Did you make sure the vent tube was clear not only at the end but all the way through? An obstruction can be anywhere but is typically in the valve.

I trust you replaced the fluid with the right kind and amount.

nic the Jtube is clear and the fluid and and levelis there. I took both lines loose at the pump and no fluid came out
Al As rare as that is with a Yanmar, that does point to a pump failure. Usually with a hitch lock-up, you remove and service the lift mechanism. But I'm still not sure about your control lever mechanism. So there are the three possibilities, and unless someone else wants to weigh in, I guess you just have to go through them all until problem solved.

But first, did you make sure the rear-lift stop valve didn't somehow get closed? I think on yours it's a turn-knob in the seat area.

norm "I took both lines loose at the pump and no fluid came out "

If by that you mean you loosened the high pressure, (small) line coming out of the pump, cranked the engine over and no fluid came out, then you probably have a sheared key in the pump. The pump can't pump with no fluid coming in.
