1610D Temperature

Maury The temperature gauge on my 1610D has no numeric indication, simply marks at about 25%, 50% and 75% of range. Can anyone advise what these marks might correspond to in degrees F? Also, the operating temperature seems to be almost entirely a function of ambient temperature, running around the 25% mark at 70 deg ambient and approaching 50% when the ambient is in the upper 90's. Does my machine need a new thermostat or does it not have a thermostat to control coolant temperature?
NORM Anything between 25% and 50%, (about 150*-195*) is good.
Al I don't know, but maybe the marks are designed to cover a narrow range. If your rad cap is original, spend a couple bucks on a new one because those gaskets wear down. (I assume the coolant is not straight water, the fan belt is good, the system doesn't need cleaning, etc.)
russ maury,I've got a 1610d and can tell you there is no thermostat.mine started overheating and the gauge went over to the red area on the gauge.since the repair goes between the first dash and the middle. russ
