Yanmar block heater

John McGuigan I have a Yanmar YM1610D and want to install a block heater for easier cold starts. I cannot install a magnetic oil pan magnetic heater because the front drive shaft runs too close to the oil pan. The lower radiator hose is too close to the flywheel, engine block and generator belt for a heater there. There is not enough room in the engine compartment to mount a resevoir heater. That only leaves a freeze plug heater. I find 3 freeze plugs on each side of the engine that measure 1.25 inches. That converts to 31.75mm. Is that the size I need? How do I know which freeze plug is threaded? They all look the same to me. How do I remove the freeze plug to install the heater?
Iron They aren't freeze plugs. They are the only way to cast the inner passages of the block when the cast iron is poured. After casting, the steel plugs are installed.
russ hi john,i've got a 1610d.I live in N.E. Kansas where it gets pretty cold in the winter. Using the thermostart and decompression have never had an issue starting my tractor.if anything thats had to start and get going its me.russ
John Thanks for your input, russ. I think I'll just go out and make sure the thermostart works.
