ym 2000 brakes

chris	Looking at buying a ym 2000 and the brakes dont work on it. I need to know how to adjust the brakes and or replace the shoes. oh are they wet brakes or dry? Thanks chris
wayne	Define "don't work." A broken pinion in the brake assembly, usually caused by misuse of the diff. lock, will render the brake useless on that side. A significant repair and minimum $200 in parts. Stuck brakes or brakes out of adjustment can be minimal.
norm	They should be "dry" unless converted to "wet". Repairs are pretty straight-forward, (follow your nose). Usually don't need to replace shoes, just reverse for new surface.
Al	The linings often last the life of the tractor. What usually need servicing or replacement are the linkages and return springs.
chris	We havent bought it yet tring to make shure it is a good deal and what it would cost to fix brakes the linkage looks good and every thing moves freely on the out side but I would have to break into where the linkage enters the rear end housing above and to the front of the rear axles. We will do that if we get it. The guy is asking $2000 for it, a 4' rotter tiller, 4'box blade, and a 2 plow soil buster. Is this to much fot it with the brakes the only thing visably wrong? thanks chris
Al	Price sounds like a steal. I've argued that the only real problem in grey-markets is the lack of documentation in English, but Murray Publishing now offers a translated one for the 2000.
