YM 2010 I left the ignition on!
| Troy | I accidentially left the ignition on the last time I was on it and I had to jump the tractor off. However now the generator doesn't charge. I have no lights, horn, or gauges. Did someting burn out? Please advise!

| norm | How much voltage is in the battery?
|
| Al | Could be a weak battery, subjected to a full discharge, can't recover. Could be the jumping knocked out the voltage regulator. Could be the alternator failed but they're pretty hardy. Get the battery tested, charged, replaced, whatever. Monitor it, and if it discharges in use, assume it's the reg. You can replace it (maybe around $125), or bypass it: when the engine starts, turn the key off (it will run without draining, just no lights or horn). Charge it up every ten or so starts. |
| Troy | Apparently not enough because after I hook my truck up to it for a while to charge the lights are now on and working. However, I noticed the little green light flickers some as I'm cutting grass. Do you think the generator is going out?
|
| norm | Sorry, I can't help much with "not enough". If it's much below about 12 volts the gen. can't charge it and can be damaged in the process. It's pretty hard to maintain a tractor without a volt/ohm meter and knowledge in it's use.
