1700 hydraulics
| Tim Wilson | Will the 1700 run a log splitter if it is ran from hydraulic lines? How much trouble is it to hook up? Thanks in advance for the replies Tim |
| Al | It will but so slowly that some guys power them from a supplementary PTO pump. Some trouble if you have to ask. There are stand-alone splitters that now cost way less than just a PTO pump. Start with what Northern Tool offers. |
| Tim Wilson | Thanks, that was what I was afraid of. Found a good used on for $200 but slow is not what I neee right now. Can you recommend a good gas one for 7 acres? Merry Christmas!! Tim |
| Al | Sorry, no idea. But a seven-acres woodlot isn't the size of a small state, so unless your logs' diameters are measured in feet, let me suggest this. Splitters (by hand) predate chainsaws, and were still needed when saws were costly and primitive, making you want to do more splitting and less cutting. Now you can get a good saw and spare chains for the cost of a cheap splitter. Instead of splitting at all, just saw smaller sections and burn the unsplit rounds. That's what I do. |
