oc3 wont fire

brandon my dad and i just rebuilt a 4 cylinder hercules motor out of a 56' oliver oc3 and now after he put it back in it wont fire. no spark and it doesnt seem to draw gas. it had spark before he put it back in. it is positive ground. would something make it turn over backwards? this may sound stupid but which direction should it turn over? if it is turning over backwards, how do we correct that?
David Bragg It should not turn backward as the ratcheting mechanisom of the starter would prevent that. However it is not positive ground but negative ground .Positive ground would make the starter turn bacward . Best Regards
