1800 Hydra Power will occasionally not go into high or low

Stephen Lane I have an 1800 gas that works fine for serveral hours and then will just stop like the hydra drive is in a neutral position. It won't move in either high or low. Then when towing it out of the field and bouncing on gopher piles, it starts to work. The trans, cluth, remotes, pto all work but it won't move. When I let out the clutch in gear the rears move about an inch and that's all.
brian it may be getting hot. as you pull it the bumps may have nothing to do with it, it may just cool down. try checking to see if your cooler is pluged . depending on the year it is either above the hydro drive unit and cooled by the engine cooling system or up front and cooled by air.
